Giving Tree China is

• a program of the Community Center Shanghai 
• provides underprivileged children in Shanghai with a bag of new holiday gifts for Spring Festival
• provides each contributor with a profile of a child recipient
• gives every donor the option of meeting the children at the distribution ceremonies.

Why the Spring Festival?

• Spring Festival or Chinese New Year has many similarities to Christmas, the main one being the custom of giving gifts.
• Most underprivileged children, won’t receive any gifts.
• Giving Tree donors assemble the bags during the Christmas season for delivery during Chinese New Year
