Our History

In 2003, Giving Tree began by helping 32 Migrant Children in Shanghai with a candle-light service at the Community Center Shanghai.  Each year since then, more and more of the Shanghai community has joined with the Giving Tree to help more and more Migrant Worker's Children in the Shanghai area.

In 2008, Giving Tree delivered more than 6,000 gift bags to Migrant Worker's children in the Shanghai area.

In 2009, Giving Tree, with the help of the community of Shanghai; will help 10,607 children in Shanghai, Anhui and Sichuan.  The team of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to ensure as many children as possible receive a Chinese New Year gift.

Since its inception, dedicated volunteers and extremely generous community members have helped Giving Tree provide over 26,500 gift bags to Migrant children and other children in need in China.
